A new species of Boehmeria with 'multiple' (double and triple) flowers and fruits, Boehmeria burgeriana, is described from Costa Rica. The derivation of its unusual flowers and fruits is discussed. Fruit anatomy provides supporting evidence for its inclusion within this genus.
