En stratigrafisk og tafonomisk analyse af fossile fugle og fjer fra Fur Formationen.

Research output: Contribution to journalJournal articleResearch

The results of the first quantitative stratigraphic and taphonomic analysis of the fossil brids from the Fur Formation shows that:

1) Most (71%) of the straitgraphically determinable fossil bird material dervies from two horisons, partly from the interval from ashlayer +22 to +35 and partly around ashlayers -11 to -13. Furthermore it is possible to observe a connection between increased levels of fossil material and the combination of volcanic ash layers and anoxic or dysoxic conditions.

2) The distribution of deacy stages sensu Davis & Briggs (1995) places the formation between lacustrine deposits and high energy marine/estuarine deposits.
