Ongoing and planned research 2009
My research interest is focused on the systematics, phylogeny and biogeography of millipedes (Diplopoda), especially the superorder Juliformia
Taxonomy, phylogeny and faunistics:
Fauna Europaea:Fauna Europaea is a pan-European project with the aim of providing a synonymic list of an estimated 120,000 multicellular, non-marine animal species in Europe, as well as information on their distribution on a country/regional basis. I am "group coordinator" for myriapods in the project, with a special responsibility for millipedes. The information on millipedes, collated by R.D. Kime and myself (1542 species) has been published on the Fauna Europaea website (http://www.faunaeur.org/) and is currently being updated.
