Participate in laboratory work: DNA & life
The course DNA & life consists of a full-day visit in the DNAlab which is the Natural History Museum of Denmark teaching laboratory for high school classes. The DNAlab is located at the Zoological Museum on the 5th floor. Participation in DNA & life gives a class a unique opportunity to actively work with molecular biology, biodiversity, ecology, and population biology.

In DNAlab the students work with species identification and method comparison. Using real-time PCR and species-specific primers and probes, they examine environmental DNA-samples from lake- or sea water. In addition, the students work with classical species identification of fish using morphological characteristics. The students analyze and interpret their results, which they take home for post-processing at school.
