1987-09-01: M. Sc. studies in Biology (main line) and Geology initiated at Copenhagen University.
1995-11-24: Awarded the M. Sc. in Zoology, thesis title: "The preoral cavity of the lower Hymenoptera". Supervisor: Prof. Dr. N. P. Kristensen.
1996-04-01: Ph. D. studies initiated at the Zoological Museum, University of Copenhagen. Supervisor: Prof. Dr. N. P. Kristensen.
1999-06-11: Awarded the Ph. D. - degree. Thesis title: "The comparative anatomy of the basal hymenopteran lineages, and its phylogenetic implications".
2000-04-01 - 2002-02-28 : Post. doc. - researcher at Department of Systematic Zoology, Evolutionary Biology Centre, Uppsala University, Sweden, on a Danish Carlsberg Foundation grant. Scientific host: Prof. Dr. Fredrik Ronquist.
