Primary research areas

My general field of interest is the diversity, phylogeny, and evolution of Crustacea.

Current research

  • High-rank phylogeny based on morphological and molecular data of the archaic looking Crustacea that make up the Branchiopoda (fairy shrimp, tadpole shrimp, clam shrimp, and water fleas).
  • Morphology and systematics of various smaller, enigmatic crustacean taxa, the phylogenetic position of which has reached no consensus: Mystacocarida, Leptostraca, Branchiura (with O. S. Møller), Cephalocarida (with D. Waloszek), and Tantulocarida.
  • Phylogeny of Onychopoda, a group of primarily marine raptorial cladocerans (waterfleas) with species rich radiations in the Ponto-Caspian region (Caspian Sea and Aral Lake) (with S. Richter).
  • Faunistics of Danish 'larger' branchiopods.
