Research policy
- Research at the museum is to be based primarily on the scientific collections, including the living collections
- The museum is to conduct research and to train researchers, up to the highest international level, within the following areas:
- a. Geological structures and processes
- b. The evolution, phylogeny, diversity and distribution of living organisms
- c. Conservation biology
- The museum is to take part in national and international research programmes
- The scope of research at the museum is to be global
- The museum is to contribute towards building up the research capacity of collections-based natural history institutions in developing countries
