Research policy

Research at the museum is to be based primarily on the scientific collections, including the living collections
The museum is to conduct research and to train researchers, up to the highest international level, within the following areas:
a. Geological structures and processes
b. The evolution, phylogeny, diversity and distribution of living organisms
c. Conservation biology
The museum is to take part in national and international research programmes
The scope of research at the museum is to be global
The museum is to contribute towards building up the research capacity of collections-based natural history institutions in developing countries
